Retirement and Pension Advice

Retirement is one of the biggest financial changes you will go through, and the decisions you make in the years around it can shape the rest of your life. As independent, Chartered advisers, we help you plan with confidence, whether retirement is decades away or close at hand.

We look at everything you have built up, from workplace and personal pensions to savings and investments, and help you understand what it could provide. We then build a plan to close any gap between where you are and the retirement you want, reviewing it with you as life changes.

How We Help

  • Bringing older pensions together so they are easier to manage and understand.
  • Working out how much you realistically need to retire comfortably.
  • Choosing how to take an income, from drawdown to annuities and the options between.
  • Planning for later life and how you pass wealth on to the people who matter.

Advice for Every Stage

If retirement is still some way off, we focus on building your pot in a tax-efficient way. As it draws closer, we help you shape how and when to take your money, mindful of tax, sustainability and the lifestyle you have in mind. Whatever your stage, you deal with one adviser who knows your plan.

The value of investments can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invest. A pension is a long-term investment. Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may change in the future.

Retirement Planning Questions

How much do I need to retire?+
There is no single figure. It depends on the lifestyle you want and when you plan to stop. We help you set a realistic target based on your spending and goals, then plan towards it.
Can I combine my old pensions?+
Often, yes, though it is not always the right move. We review each pension, including any guarantees or exit charges, before recommending anything.
When can I take my pension?+
Most people can access a personal or workplace pension from age 55, rising to 57 in 2028. The right time to start taking an income depends on your wider plans.
How should I take my retirement income?+
You might use drawdown, an annuity, tax-free cash or a mix. Each has trade-offs around flexibility, security and tax, and we help you choose the blend that suits you.
